Vejer de la Frontera is a well-known pueblo blanco in the Cádiz and Andalucía region (and for good reason). Although somewhat popular, it always feels tranquil and quiet when I visit. The village seemingly has it all, from small shops, market with food stalls, picturesque views and incredible restaurants. The small towns in this region on Spain bring me more inspiration and joy than the well-known cities – the authentic nature of them leaves you in awe. If you are planning a day trip to Vejer de la Frontera I hope this guide can help you have the best visit.

Where to park

The easiest place to park is at an outside lot (no stressful parking garages) at the bottom of the hill. You can easily head up to the town in a short, under 10 minute walk. If you are traveling with a stroller, there is a ramp you can push it up the whole way. Bring a stroller that does well with hill because even when you get tot he town, there will still be many!

If you decide to stay the night or head there for the weekend these two hotels would be on my list:

Encalada – A country house with sweeping valley views and walkable to all the main old town sights.

La Casa del Califa – Moorish and Andalucían inspired, with unique rooms, terrance views and a wonderful breakfast.

Casa La Siesta – Although not in the main town (although a short drive), this tranquil and rural luxury stay is a wonderful getaway in the Vejer area.

A day trip to Vejer de la Frontera: Where to eat

El Jardín del Califa – perhaps the most popular of restaurants but always a good choice. Part of theHotel La Casa del Califa de Vejer with Moroccan food and wonderful Middle Eastern dishes. The setting is beautifully designed as well.

Fez Vejer – The same owner of El Hardin but I may like Fez the most. The food is just as amazin (I need to head there for brunch), and the setting is a little more laid back on a beautiful tranquil street. Make reservations here as well.

Pan de Limón – A wonderful place for breakfast especially if you want something a bit more filling and variety than traditional cafes you see in Spain.

San Fransisco Gastronomic Market – Stalls with a variety of food.

Cafetería the Singular Coffee – Great coffee and the perfect cafe to start your day before exploring the town.

La Vinográfica – Tapas and wine in a picturesque hillside setting.

Day trip to Vejer de la Frontera: Things to do

Arcos de la Judería – Visit the iconic arches looking to the white-washed houses.

La Caja – Galería de Arte – Amazing store for a unique souvenir or custom art.

Plaza de España – A pristine plaza with a fountain and surrounded by shops and cafes.

Mirador Torre del Tajo – Although not in the town center, you can drive 10 minutes for a beautiful hike with scenic ocean views.

Iglesia Divino Salvador – Spain has some beautiful churches and this one is no exception.

Shop at boutiques – I picked up some jewelry and a magnet I love from Mawwá, and you will find boutiques sprinkled through the town and near Plaza de España.
