It may be February 14th, but spring is truly beginning in San Diego, so velvet and flannels may be taking a back seat very soon. As I am in the process of purging my closet for my capsule wardrobe, I realize more and more how many clothes I don’t wear, yet I always say I have “nothing to wear.” How is that?
If you are an avid thrift shopper like myself, sometimes your closet is filled with lots of worn, used clothing (which is great) but you are lacking some quality basic to pair all your great finds with. Finding versatile items is key to sustaining your beautifully worn thrifted treasures!
I have been using the SAME bag (or old company backpack) for YEARS because I am indecisive and did not want to pay a lot for a new one. I recently invested in a carry on suitcase that I LOVE so now I feel more complete on my short in state trips. Whenever I travel I don’t want to feel disorganized and I am the queen of getting to the airport, buying a bottle of water, soda, and a bunch of snacks (because I think I am going on a 3 day journey with no food for days) and then realize I need to cram everything in my purse.
Buying a piece at the thrift store and pairing it with clothes already in your closet is a win win. A win for the environment and a win for your wallet! You can truly be creative with just one *new piece* of clothing – so happy thrifting!
After a crazy holiday filled weekend full of parties and dancing I am pretty tired going into this week. That aside, it is a new day and a new week, so I hope you feel ready to conquer another one! I am pretty excited about this thrifted holiday look #2, and I hope it leaves you feeling inspired to thrift some great outfits yourself!
Winter time is here! Ok, well not OFFICIALLY but the number of holiday parties that will come your way you may need to plan your outfits early, and you most likely will need more than one. And with each outfit, there is money to spend (even with all the holiday deals)! So let me give you some thrifted inspired holiday outfits starting with this maxi I had in my closet and a thrifted gold sparkly top. Sequins and sparkles are not something I wear all the time (pretty sweet if you do though) so not investing in a new piece just for one time of the year is IDEAL.
This look is not only comfortable but the leather leggings gives it a twist and edge (WARNING I will be styling these leather leggings a lot)! I highly recommend you get a faux inexpensive pair (some I linked below) for this upcoming season – you won’t regret it!
The holidays are here and once again, they arrive quicker than we expected. I am a strict follower of celebrating Christmas after Thanksgiving, but I respect and envy those who complete their shopping early! Maybe my gift guide will help 😉
It is also a season of not just giving to your family and friends but to a great cause or a nonprofit – so why not do both? When purchasing products like these, I firmly believe in sustainability because it is more than just providing a meal (which is great)! but also about CREATING opportunity for a lasting solution.
Above is a look at a few gift ideas for this holiday from my favorite organizations who share in this belief.
SCARF SEASON. Is there a better one? I am pretty sure my wallet starts shaking as soon as fall clothes come out. It is so tempting to buy every rust colored sweater, every camel colored bootie and every bomber jacket. Good thing for my thrift fashionistas – sweaters are always a good buy at thrift shops! I will try and show some thrift items that are fall friendly and will give your wallet a break.
We are SO close to cooler weather here in Southern California and I am SO happy. And in true California fashion it is cold in the morning and cold at night (with a summer heat during the day) so layers are key! Which brings me to blanket sweaters/scarfs/ponchos.
I love the month of November so I will try and love all days. It is finally getting a little cooler here in San Diego and I am lovinggg it. I also am going to Chicago this month where I will get a FULL dose of cold (also thrilled for this). But today it is back in the office in my working clothes! And I am all about looking professinsal but being comfortable sitting at a desk for 8 hours…which brings me to these pants!
Hello and happy almost Friday! When I am not somewhat dressed up for work I am often in jeans, a tee and if you live in a “cool at night and hot during the day” type of place – some sort of layer!
Sometimes people don’t understand why I love to thrift, because they think it sounds like a lot of work! And, it actually can be! But these tips help me enjoy it even more!
A few weeks ago I traded/thrifted some clothes and came upon this skirt. Elastic waiste band skirts are SO easy to style! I was so drawn to the color or this skirt and the peplum style. I originally styled it for a work out but with high wasted skirts you have SO many options!

Rumor has it I may be spending some time in Tokyo in the near future, so as I buy new items I keep thinking to myself – would I look super cool and fit into Japanese street style? Ok, so I only thought of that buying this sweatshirt but honestly the velvet, colors and color blocking are just too perfect.
