Although I planned out my travel goals in the beginning of the year, a few Fall trips have me excited for the upcoming season! Not all of them may consist of full Fall foliage (alliteration, nice) but I will be able to pull out sweaters, boots and smell that cool morning air.

Some trips planned for this Fall are for friends, family weddings or just to explore a new city. Always thankful when I can get in the car for a road trip or a plane for places father away (especially when hats and scarves are packed like my trip to New York last year).

Fall Travels

Hilton Head, SC

A quick trip, but always happy to get away with family.

Holden Beach, NC

Seeing as we are heading 6 hours north, I am hoping the weather won’t be as hot as Jacksonville but I know it won’t be drastic. I am however excited for a coastal Fall weekend. This is a new place for me as well which is always a positive.

Atlanta, GA

We are so excited to hopefully explore this city for the first time in early/mid November! I have been through this city on plenty of layovers but am eager to try the food scene, be a tourist at the Atlanta Aquarium and Coca Cola Museum and feel the heartbeat of a giant city. Currently scouring the internet for the best ramen in the city – any ideas?

Rhode Island

Fall in Rhode Island is just what I need! No humidity will be in the air and although the leaves will have fallen I can’t wait for my favorite holiday in my favorite place. Afternoon walks and no hesitation of wearing sweaters, sipping hot coffee and enjoying the crisp air. I will however will have to watch out for chapped lips and dry skin…but walking through the streets of Providence and my hometown is an OK trade-off.

Local trips

I plan on venturing to St. Augustine, Amelia Island or possibly St. Simons Island to fuel my desire to travel even if they are shorter trips. St. Simons is on my list this year and I still hope I am able to make it! I love the endless amounts of day and weekend trips from Jacksonville and hope to enjoy them this Fall (like kayaking without as many mosquitoes in November or December)!

Future Fall ventures…

Oh Fall in Japan…I lived in Japan for about a year but was gone for one of the best seasons. The Fall foliage in Japan is perhaps one of the prettiest I have seen (through photos) and I when I return to visit the Fall season will be my first priority. Spring Cherry Blossoms gets the fame when it comes to Japan but I think Fall takes the cake. I dream of hiking and staying in a Ryokan during cool Autumn nights in the mountains of Japan.

New England…yes, I grew up in New England but it has been so long since I have visiting New Hampshire and Vermont. I grew up going to Maine each Summer, but I wish I had spent more time in the other New England states during the Fall. If I ever move back I plan to take full advantage of having those gorgeous leaves, apple orchards and Fall festivities so close. Not to mention, the weather is the most magical during this time. If you’re lucky you catch the period where a sweater is all you need and can leave the fluffy parka in the closet.

Blue Ridge Mountains…Shenandoah River, but seriously since my little planning of our potential trip to Atlanta, I found myself trying to see if we could take advantage of the cooler weather and escape for some Fall To Do’s. We may stay in the city since we only have a few days, but I love the idea of escaping to the fresh air and mountains of Northern Georgia!
