When visiting the the land of sherry, there is no better place to check in than the world’s first sherry hotel. Although I have visited Jerez during the day, I was eagerly waiting for the full Jerez experience. Hotel Bodega Tio Pepe was a huge piece in making the visit remarkable.

A grand yet classic entrance, you will find a small seating nook and a clean minimalist check-in area. A drink on our arrival and off to our stay we went. The room and the hotel as a whole was warm, inviting and had a comforting and rich design.

Everything you want to see during your time in Jerez is walkable from the hotel, and one of the main sights – the Cathedral – is quite literally at your doorstep. Even though you’re in a prime location, it’s in a quiet area of the city. Everything felt intimate – from the rooms, to our breakfast, even the impressive outdoor spaces. Of course, seasons of tourists come and go, but regardless of when you visit I can only assume this is a perfect oasis year-round.

If you find yourself in the hot summer months of southern Spain, be sure to find time to soak in their rooftop pool and views. Although the water was a bit too cold while we were there, we still enjoyed the Cathedral and the Alcázar in the distance.

After enjoying the Hamman Baths and checking into the hotel, we visited a Tabanco, had drinks at the iconic Gallo Azul and ate at the incredible Mantua. Following breakfast our trip was complete once we made our way to our Bodega tour and tasting we included when we booked our stay.

A highlight of our getaway was exploring more of the gorgeous scenery within the Bodega, learning all about the region and Sherry and of course, a tasting (of nine different sherry wines) in their expansive and show stopping tasting room. Part of the tour and hotel contains one of the most beautiful days streets in the world, as one publication said.

We could have simply soaked up Jerez by barely leaving the hotel (of course, the city is worth exploring), but a stay where you feel you have traveled by barely leaving their walls – is truly remarkable.
