There is nothing quite like planning a stay in a new city from where you choose to dine, sip coffee, and most importantly, where you stay. Willing to entertain some tourist norms (like Forsyth Park or ordering a flat white from the Collins Quarter), I also wanted to have a unique stay that did the beautiful southern city of Savannah justice. A location that places you in the heart of the historic district and brings the feel of the city in their decor while making your stay feel right at home. From their stunning rooftop pool to their astounding curated local art – the Perry Lane Hotel has created the perfect place to hang your hat while in Savannah. Not to mention – I need all their furniture in my house immediately.
Checking in at the Perry Lane Hotel
From the moment I checked in, I knew that Perry Lane Hotel would be the highlight of my weekend getaway in Savannah. I barely stepped into the lobby as they offered me water or champagne while my reservation was completed. The first ever Luxury Collection hotel in Savannah easily shows you the elegance and charm of the city surrounding the hotel. The Luxury Collections around the world do a wonderful job at embodying the local city they reside in – so locals and travelers alike can enjoy the unique stay.
The contemporary elegance is easily portrayed through the textures, colors, and decor. With 3,600 unique antiques and more than 1,200 art pieces adorning the walls, you can feel the authentic and eclectic vibe of the southern city. The design was inspired by their muse, Adelaide Harcourt – a wealthy, well-traveled Savannah native who has spent her life collecting memorable heirlooms and worldly treasures. Shown through stacked suitcases and antiques such as typewriters and globes.
I took time to explore both towers of the hotel, and happen to discover Andie Kully Boutique, the beautiful clothing store owned by The New York City fashion-designer. The boutique is filled with gorgeous resort worthy, timeless pieces as well as other designer brand clothing and accessories. You can also buy Perry Lane’s very own scented candle – that you can smell all throughout the hotel.
Home away from home
The 167 rooms that reside in the Perry Lane Hotel are all equipped with the best toiletries, full stocked antique style bar and luxurious robes. Everyday our Byrd Rock cookie jar was filled and we were able to wake up to drip coffee at Bowerbird Coffee. If there ever was a perfect hotel for me – it would be one with a gelato and coffee shop off the lobby. The rooms provided a relaxing and lush environment complete with turn down service at the end of the night.
Wine & Dine
The city of Savannah has a tremendous amount of restaurants and places to grab cocktails with a few of them residing right at your finger tips inside the Perry Lane. Co-founder of Sage Restaurant Group, Peter Karpinski developed the Emporium Kitchen + Wine Market offering free wine tastings on Sunday and signature menu items (including a free appetizer for guests)! Before dinner, head up to the Peregrin to enjoy specially crafted cocktails with the most beautiful views of Savannah. For another bar option, the hotel houses the Wayward Bar for those who want more of an experience as well as a rock n’ roll vibe. To quote Perry Lane, “It embarks casual elegance mixed with a touch of rebellion.”
Even their food and drink experiences are outside the norm of a run of the mill hotel. It breaks stereotypes, while still providing first class services. They supply a complimentary car service and free bike rentals, making any round trip adventures incredibly easy.
The Perry Lane Hotel is the type of stay that enhances your weekend getaway and provides you with anything you may need and more. I was able to view all of Savannah with a cocktail in hand, drink coffee at a darling coffee bar, and visit a home of a muse who also loved all things travel. That is a hotel experience I need for every trip.
City and See received a discounted rate for this collaboration, but as always all opinions are my own! Thank you Perry Lane Hotel!
