Where to eat in Orlando: Bites we loved

Although I have been to Orlando to visit Disney World a few times, I had never truly explored the heart and core of the city. Much like Jacksonville when I first moved here, Orlando surprised me in the best ways. Beautiful waterways, thoughtfully designed coffee spaces, hip growing neighborhoods, a downtown full of potential and delicious places to grab a bite.

Having just visited there, I would in no way call this a guide (support and check out local Orlando creatives for even more recommendations) but here are places that we were told to eat (and that we loved).

Where to eat in Orlando

King Bao 50 Mills

Google Maps Location

It is clear the 50 Mills area has a ton of great food – unfortunately we couldn’t get to them all! King Bai was recommended to me when I asked all of you on Instagram stories and it was our first spot we ate at. The food was incredible (and great if you are on a budget)! We tried a variety of six Baos and this will be a place I visit again – you should stop by and try their specials or ask what their favorite is as well.

Kabooki Sushi

Google Maps Location

When we hear of a good sushi place in an area we haven’t been before we like to try it (we clearly miss Japanese food a ton). Head into Kabooki with the expectation that it is a tad pricey for small quantities (the Nigiri pieces were small) but everything was incredibly tasty. We would certainly go again and order much more. My husband got the chef nigiri tasing and thought it was great. Their cocktail list looks stellar as well.

Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine

Google Maps Location

Another first, venturing to the adorable suburb of Orlando in Winter park. No real expectations or idea of where to eat (Ravenous Pig is on our list for next time, maybe when we don’t have a toddler ha) but we sat outside at Bosphorous and enjoyed every bite. I also tried the Turkish wine flight as I am not familiar with wine from that region and it was the perfect introduction.

A La Cart

Google Maps Location

For those of you traveling with kids – this place is perfect! Craft beer brewery with an outside turf area surrounded by a few food trucks. Live music, a variety of foods and space for your little ones to not feel couped up in a high chair.

Tako Cheena

Google Maps Location

First recommended from a blog and then by a local – we made sure to stop as we were leaving the city. Influenced by food truck culture and with Asian fusion menu items such as Indian Butter Chicken burrito and Korean Beef Taco – it is a perfect spot to hang on their patio with an iced cold kombucha.

On our list for next time

Ravenous Pig

Swine & Sons

Buttermilk Bakery

Sticky Rice

Voodoo Donuts
